...HIS BANNER OVER ME IS LOVE.

                                 Song of Solomon 2:4

God gave His people a desire for beauty and color in their places of worship from early Bible accounts.

Leaving Egypt, the children of Israel wandered for many years in the desert as they sought the Promised Land.  God gave them instructions for the construction of a portable church -- the Tabernacle. It was colorful and beautifully adorned, a fitting place to worship God. Colors mentioned were purple, blue, and scarlet. Vessels were of silver and gold.

Banners have long been Christian symbols of joy and victory. Stained glass windows are the glory of church structures.

These banners and altar cloth draw from names for Jesus used in scripture and from Christian symbols for Jesus Christ. Used here is a fabric version of stained glass art.

AND YOU SHALL CALL HIS NAME JESUS

THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 15, 2004 THE LONG-AWAITED STAINED-GLASSED WINDOWS WERE INSTALLED!! (Below are the words on the handout given to the congregation on Sunday, November 21, 2004):

"Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost...."

DID I HEAR THE WORD JOY?

Or was the word awe? Or was it beautiful, or breathtaking. Oh...the problem with superlatives is that they can never fully grasp all we feel in our hearts and souls. Choose your own words to describe the changes in our worship environment.

May these gifts of grace always direct our worship to the one true and living God, our Father, The Almighty. Praise God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

As you gaze upon the beautiful windows and search them for the many wonderful details, please note the following:

Our windows have five Christian symbols:

1. The four red jewels represent the wounds of the crucifixion.

2. The red borders represent the blood of Christ.

3. The columns represent the apostles upholding Christ.

4. In the canopy, a crown represents the King of Kings.

5. The fleur-de-leis represents the Trinity.
