LAUREL HILL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD MEETING

     The bi-monthly meeting of the Administrative Board of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church met December 5, 2006,  at 7:00 p.m. at the Church.  The following members were in attendance:  Bill Balz,  Nancy Bergemann, Phil Deane, George Kaloski, Krista Manuel,  Phyllis Nelson, Mike Powell, Marsha Williams and David Torrence.  Phyllis Nelson called the meeting to order.  Reverend Torrence opened with prayer.

     The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed by the Board.   A motion was made by Nancy Bergemann to dispense with the reading of the minutes.  It was seconded by Marsha Williams.   The motion was voted on and passed.  The minutes were approved.  

Treasurer's Report - Phil Deane (report attached)

     Copies of the balance sheet were distributed.  The report was reviewed by Phil Deane.  The following points were presented:

  1. The current balance in the checking account was reported.

  2. All apportionments are up-to-date.

Pastor's Report - David Torrence 

     David Torrence made a motion to nominate Kirby Miller, Mary Holmes and Joanne Corley to the Lay Leadership Committee Class of 2009.  The motion was seconded by Mike Powell.  The motion was voted on and passed.

     A list of needed repairs will be posted on the Men's Bulletin Board outside the Fellowship Hall.

     Kirby Miller's father is in Hanover Regional Hospital.

Pastor/Parrish Report - Mike Powell

    Mike Powell reported that the committee had met and the performance evaluation of David Torrence had been completed.  The committee had set a goal to develop an evaluation procedure for all other staff members.

Trustee's Report - George Kaloski (report attached)

    George Kaloski reported that the sale of the property which was donated was in the final stages.

Lay Leader - No Report

Council on Ministries - Nancy Bergemann

     Nancy Bergemann reported that Thanksgiving baskets had been delivered to three families and food had been delivered to the FISH pantry.

     Approximately $125.00 is being spent on the meat for the luncheons on the first Sunday of each month.  People are needed to help with set-up at 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays prior to the luncheons and for clean-up following the meal.

     The seniors and shut-ins will receive silk amaryllis for Christmas.

Worship - David Torrence

     David Torrence reported that the poinsettias for Christmas have been ordered.

Youth Ministries - Krista Manuel

     Krista Manuel reported that she is looking for a location off-site for the youth to meet.

New Business 

     There was no new business.

Announcements

     The next meeting will be held on February 13, 2007, at 7:00 p.m.

     There being no further business to come before the Board, Nancy Bergemann moved to adjourn the meeting.  The motion was seconded by Marsha Williams and was voted on and approved.  Phyllis Nelson adjourned the meeting.
