CHURCH COUNCIL
Mission:
Plan and implement a program of nurture, outreach, witness and resources for the Church, and administer its organizational and temporal life by functioning as an executive council of the Church and its charge conference ... all in furtherance of the great command of Matthew 28:19-20.
NOW HISTORY: In 1992, local churches were given the option to "establish an Administrative Council (Nurture, Outreach and Witness) Resources Ministries model" (NOW), which is both the administrative body to which members, organizations, and agencies are amenable, and the programmatic body which shall consider, develop, and coordinate goals and program proposals for the church's mission. . ." (Paragraph 245, 1992 Book of Discipline). In 2009, the Administrative Board and Council on Ministries were combined to form the Church Council and work through the NOW implementation of programs. Laurel Hill elected to use the NOW format as OWN showing OWNERSHIP through: O=Outreach, W=Witness and N=Nurture.
Meeting Schedule:
The Church Council meets on the 3rd Tuesday of odd months at 7:00 p.m.: January, March, May, July, September and November. Special meetings are called by the Chair.
